Gary Chou is a fun guy based in Brooklyn, NY.
Most recently Gary worked at Union Square Ventures, a New York City-based venture capital firm, where he created and managed the Union Square Ventures Network of portfolio companies. Prior to joining Union Square Ventures in 2010, he held product roles at tech companies and startups.
He currently teaches Entrepreneurial Design at the School of Visual Arts MFA in Interaction Design Program and advises the Austin Center for Design, which exists to transform society through design and design education; and Venture for America, which seeks to revitalize American cities and communities through entrepreneurship.
In his work with independent creators, Gary executive produced Surrogate Valentine (SXSW ’11) and Daylight Savings (SXSW ’12), two films by Dave Boyle. He frequently collaborates with musician Goh Nakamura on web-related projects.
Gary has backed 70+ Kickstarter projects and is an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church.
